Travel is still difficult as I write this due to the pandemic. As such we have been doing quite a bit of fly fishing for pacu in Empangan Air Kuning (EAK) due to its proximity to many of us.
Our latest visit there in February and early March 2021 saw plenty of toman (giant snakehead) in the water. That is normally not the case in the upper dam section. Toman are located more in the lower dam area. The presence of many toman has made the pacu somewhat more skittish and even more challenging to catch with dry flies.
Here is a short video of some fishing in EAK where you can see a half-eaten pacu fish that’s still alive, I put the surgeon’s knot and penny knot to the test, and also announced the winner of our last YouTube video giveaway winner.
